NOTE: This application is for students interested in participating in the mentored research program from Summer 2012 until the Spring 2013 term. Students interested in participating in the summer 2013 mentored research program should NOT complete this application. That application will be available in December 2012.
The purpose of the Student Mentored Research Program is to provide promising students opportunities to participate in basic science and applied research as co-investigators with faculty mentors.
Research will be supervised by the laboratory director/mentor who will determine the adequacy of individual student’s research work. Students will be expected to engage in research on a regular basis for the equivalent of at least 4 weeks full-time effort unless allowed by the laboratory director/mentor.
Students may work up to 19 hours per week for a maximum of 200 hours during the school year.. Adjustments to the schedule will be at the discretion of the lab director/mentor.
During the Student Mentored Research Program, students may not be enrolled concurrently in the MBS or MSA programs nor can a student be employed in any other position at DMU. MSA students can enroll in the program after August 1, 2012.

. Students interested in joining the 2012 Mentored Student Research Program must schedule interviews with any faculty members with whom they wish to conduct research. The applicant and the faculty mentor will determine together the aspects of the faculty member’s research that the applicant may work on. In order to apply to the program, students must request a letter of support from the faculty member with whom they wish to work.
